LMC Workholding / Richter Manual Steady Rests...
Roller steady (Type 8)
Roller steadies are suited for workpieces up into the double-digit ton range and diameters of 6.56 to 9.84 feet - such as for marine shafts and rollers. Due to the dead weight of the workpiece, no roller is necessary from above.
The Type 12/2 Support Roller Steady (and only this one!) attaches to a track, which is recessed in the floor, behind the lathe and moves as required. Using two clamping bolts, the roller steady is firmly connected to the floor in the position to which the user wants to move.
This steady is also built with our patented electronic measuring device. The steady rest knows the center of your machine and the quills can be preset to the diameter of the workpiece. The idea for this arrangement, which is protected by patent, was invented by Harry Richter, a master toolmaker, and was then perfected for actual use by Richter Vorrichtungsbau.
